EHA 2021

June 12, 2021

From 9th to 17st June, the Acute Leukemia Advocates Network (ALAN) attended the 26th European Hematology Association (EHA) congress, held for the second year as a virtual edition.

On Friday 11th June, our Chair, Zack Pemberton-Whiteley (pictured below) updated ALAN members and sponsors with the 2021 plans.  The meeting was very well attended, based on a good exchange and we are very happy with what we have been able to accomplish so far and are looking forward to achieving more during the rest of the year. We are happy to share the presentation – just let us know by email at

This year, there were various sessions on EU Projects in hematology like Harmony and T2Evolve in which ALAN is involved.

Patient advocacy sessions

The annual congress is usually well attended by patient advocates active in hematology from all over Europe and they have their own patient advocacy track and hub in the exhibition area. This year, different topics were discussed such as:

– the outline and implementation of the upcoming diagnostic regulation and the role of and challenges foreseen by the notified dodies. (ref.

– value, benefit and fair pricing of orphan medicines

– personnalized medicine trials

– reducing bureaucracy in clinical trials

– lessons from COVID-19 with perspectives given by different stakeholders.

Lot of topics of general interest to the participants were addressed. See full program here: ALAN session Preparing for EHA . If you are interested to know more about a/some specific session(s), let us know and we will provide a summary.
