ALAN Global Summit 2025

November 10, 2025

ALAN hold its first global summit in 2023, which was attended by more than 40 participants from more than 35 countries who attended the event in person.

In November 2025, ALAN hosted the Acute Leukemia Global Summit 2025, a three-day international gathering that united patient advocates, healthcare professionals, researchers, and industry partners from more than 25 countries under the theme Inspire, Connect, and Educate.”

The Summit provided a unique platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and collective action, strengthening ALAN’s role as a global convener and catalyst for patient-centered advocacy in acute leukemia.

  • Building Connection and Purpose

Day 1 set the tone for the event, focusing on community building and shared learning. Through interactive networking activities such as “Find Your Buddy,” participants connected across borders and organizations, while the Opening Keynote by the ALAN Board inspired reflection on our shared mission.

Medical updates delivered by Dr. G. Marconi, along with patient perspectives from two advocates, provided a comprehensive and human-centered overview of the evolving treatment landscape in ALL and AML.

The day was closed with personal stories of advocacy transformation.

  • From Inspiration to Action

Day 2 shifted the focus to advocacy in action — exploring real-world challenges and co-creating practical solutions.

Breakout workshops examined key barriers to patient advocacy in acute settings, including digital access, limited patient engagement, and funding constraints.

The following session highlighted how data and evidence-based advocacy can transform patient programs and influence policy.

The day culminated with a collaborative workshop on barriers to access, where regional groups designed actionable, context-specific solutions aimed at improving care equity.

  • Expanding Impact and Sustaining Engagement

Day 3 emphasized access, collaboration, and sustainability. International speakers presented global and national strategies for improving access to leukemia treatment and diagnostics.

A debate session, Power in Partnership, challenged participants to examine the ethics and outcomes of multi-stakeholder collaboration and to define what truly “patient-driven” partnerships look like.

During an individual reflective session, attendees transformed summit insights into local advocacy plans, outlining specific actions to implement in their countries and organizations.

The Summit concluded with an open reflection session, where participants shared their key learnings and commitments. The collective sentiment was clear: the global acute leukemia community is stronger, more connected, and more determined than ever to drive lasting change.

  • Key Outcomes
