Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBCNZ) was created with a “vision to cure and a mission to care”.
LBCNZ is the leading organisation in New Zealand dedicated to supporting those who are living with blood cancer or a related blood condition – we deliver that vision and mission by supporting patients and their caregivers/families (providing financial support, information, education, pastoral care and guidance), undertaking advocacy (primarily for access to critical medication and clinical trials) and through Research (as the primary funder of the Leukaemia and Blood Cancer Research Unit (LBCRU) and also a range of grants to New Zealand based medical specialists and Research entities).
In addition LBCNZ operates the NZ Bone Marrow Donor Registry – which aims to create equity in finding bone marrow donors for Maori, Pacific Island, and unique ethnic New Zealand populations. This Registry operates as part of an established International collaboration – matching potential donors (worldwide) to the specific DNA marker requirements of recipients in New Zealand.
